Overview

Civil Defence Department is an organization that pool the national resources to conduct and control civil defence of the people to minimize the effects of enemy air attacks.

The Civil Defence Department keep liaisons with Armed Forces on matters related to civil defence to ensure implementation and updation of war schemes in all the districts of Punjab. The Department has also devoted itself to the peacetime needs of civil defence in spite of limited staff, resources and financial constraints. The main functions of the Department during peacetime are to provide bomb disposal service, organize warden service / razakars, inspection of fire protection measures and impart trainings to general public, government departments, institutions and industrial / commercial concerns.

The administrative department of the Civil Defence Department is the Home Department, Government of the Punjab. It has district level set up in the 36 districts of Punjab which operate under the command control of Deputy Commissioner who are Ex-Officio Controller Civil Defence.

Pakistan Civil Defence Organization is a member of the International Civil Defence Organization Geneva (a subsidiary of United Nation Organization, whose headquarter is based at Geneva, Switzerland).
