Training and Awareness

Training and Awareness aims at reducing the number of disasters and limiting their consequences through information and training.

The training is conducted in the following spheres:

  • Firefighting
  • Fire Safety
  • First Aid
  • Evacuation Drill (Factories / Schools)
  • Rescue from Debris and Fire
  • Training on War Schemes
  • Disaster Awareness 

Training Types

Civil Defence Training is divided into two groups:

Sub-sector Training

Training to general public is imparted regarding protection against air raids. Civil Defence Organization, as per laid down targets, has to train 500,000 people in civil defence basic general, fire, rescue, first aid and bomb reconnaissance residing in classified towns of Punjab. So far 89,632 people have been trained.

Civil Defence Services Training

Civil Defence Organization has to train 98,000 volunteers, in addition to the above mentioned people, to work for Civil Defence Services during war time. So far 75,000 people have been registered and trained for war time and at present 6,550 volunteers have been trained for peacetime emergency / disaster.

These volunteers are being given the following types of training:

  • Civil Defence Basic General
  • Basic Firefighting Service
  • Basic Rescue Service
  • Sectional Casualty Service
  • Sectional Warden Service
  • Waterman Ship Training
  • Bomb Reconnaissance Training

Normally, Civil Defence volunteers are trained in one or two fields and only then are enlisted in the Civil Defence Services.

Target in Peacetime

Civil Defence Training in peacetime targets the following:

  • Educational Institutions
  • Staff
  • Matric Students
  • Teachers Training Institutions
  • Industrial Unit and Government Departments
  • Razakars (Male and Female)
  • General Public
